I can relate to the color purple because I have a little sister, we are two years apart. Our Relationhip is really close. Something like celie and her sister. I can understand the bond they had with eachother and how separating them made them so sad but in reality brought them closer together.
If my sister was to ever leave me or go live so far I wouldnt know what to do either. When you grow up with someone who’s your sibling you become really attached and tend to lean on that person for supposrt and strength. so when celie sister left her she lost a part of her as a person. They didnt have contact with eachother for years because Mr. refused to share the latters from Africa. The stenghth that Celie had through this whole novel I would say would have to me my younger sister. She’s younger then me but she is stronger, I wouldnt been able to live like that I would of ran out and never came back. In some cases that might make celie seem stupid but then again it might make her seem strong cause she was able to bare all that.

The Color Purple is my favourite book of all time. I discovered it when I was about 11 and throughout my life have met women who deeply connect with the story. . . . All of these women have been shining examples the powerful feminine spirit.
I didn’t have a sister, but I did have a brother. He was a pretty unhappy person and was abusive towards me during our childhood. As we got older, although he lived close, the wedges grew between us and we could never seem to connect on a level. In September 2008 he went to Argentina and was shot dead in a street robbery. Since then, I have realised how many wonderful t hings he did have in his nature. I’ve realised how much I love him and it’s like all the past is forgiven. A month before he died I began to email him lots of letters. He emailed back and it was like something was healed. Then he was gone. It reminded me of him when you were talking about all those letters that Celie found from Olivia . . . and how beautiful it was when she realised her sister, after all, was alive!
